NEWTON, Kan. (KAKE) – A 39-year-old Harvey County man has pleaded guilty to sex crimes against a child, the county attorney’s office said Wednesday.
According to a release, Jerad Carmichael, of rural Harvey County, pleaded guilty last Thursday to rape of a child and aggravated criminal sodomy.
The crimes occurred between April 1, 2023 and April 21, 2024, and the victim was under the age of 10. The county attorney’s office provided no additional information about the crimes. He was arrested April 23, 2024.
Sentencing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 16. Carmichael faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years and lifetime sex offender registration. If released from custody, he’s also subject to lifetime post-release supervision.
