A man in South Korea tragically lost his life after a massive sinkhole suddenly swallowed him and his motorbike in the middle of Seoul.
The terrifying incident happened during rush hour when a huge hole—20 meters wide and 20 meters deep—opened up at an intersection. Dashcam footage shows the sinkhole appearing out of nowhere, with the motorcyclist disappearing instantly. A nearby car nearly suffered the same fate but managed to escape.
Emergency services launched a frantic 17-hour search, even using rescue dogs and digging with their hands. Sadly, the man—reported to be in his 30s—was found buried nearly a meter deep, still wearing his helmet and boots. Rescuers confirmed he was in cardiac arrest when discovered
The cause of the sinkhole is still under investigation, but it’s suspected that nearby metro line construction might have played a role. Schools in the area have since closed due to safety concerns.
