At least 24 people have been killed and another 19 are injured as wildfires engulf south Korea’s south-east region. The crisis remains critical as the inferno spreads at an “unimaginable” scale and speed, according to experts. The blaze started in Sancheong county on Friday and later spread to Uiseong county, authorities said. Many of those who died are in their 60s and 70s and more than 23,000 people have been evacuated, authorities said. Fuelled by strong and dry winds, the fires are advancing to the neighbouring counties, Yonhap news agency reported.
